This website is a compendium of 8085 projects made by undergraduate students of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) Division of the Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (NSIT), as part of their microprocessor laboratory course. The microprocessor laboratory course (EC316) complements the microprocessor theory course (EC311) at NSIT. Traditionally, EC316 consists of some lab exercises to expose the students to various aspects of 8085 microprocessor programming and interfacing using 8085 family of peripheral ICs. As you may be aware, these exercises are carried out on an 8085 evaluation kit. Since 2011, I changed the format for the ECE students and replaced the experiments with a group project to be implemented by a team of two students over the period of a single semester (6th semester which runs from January to April of a calendar year). Each group proposes a project title and objective that they wish to implement. Once approved, the team would go about doing research about the project and learning all the necessary skills to implement the hardware and program the hardware with appropriate as*embly language program to achieve the stated objective. While this compendium is an effort to docu*ent all the projects done by the students since 2011, the real push to docu*ent the ongoing projects happened only during the 2016 session. Naturally, most of the projects currently available on this website belong to the 2016 session. However, as part of ongoing efforts, all past projects will eventually be docu*ented here. If you are a past student who did a project as part of this format, please get back with details of your project and I would be very happy to host it. But the larger question in your mind could be: In this day and age, when microcontrollers are dime a dozen why would anyone implement a The short answer to that question is: It is part of the current syllabus and will remain till 2018. In fact, even after a recent (2016) course revision, 8085 remains in the revised, CBCS syllabus of ECE at NSIT.
