I remember that interview IM gave after the ONS backlash, where he said he realized now that writing lgbt character into certain scenarios has different implications than writing straight characters in those same scenarios. Guess he can’t see the implications of having a le*bian character sleep with a man to get pregnant though. Totally gross! I don’t think he did realise and the Kana stuff proves he’s still completely ignorant. Of course a character’s se*uality should inform their stories. Of course! It’s fundamental. He might think he’s woke by saying he’s not factoring it in and just being se*uality-blind but that’s completely irresponsible. The fact it didn’t occur to him is straight privilege at its finest.  Saying that, I actually think the stuff with Robert and Rebecca was (in my opinion) more damaging in terms of bise*ual representation than (it’s still gross, badly written and stupid though). But with Robert, the only times he had even talked openly about being bi was in the context of “that doesn’t mean I’ll cheat”. Yes, he’s always been a player and a cheater. That’s not the point. It’s how they framed his bise*uality. It was always in the context of ‘you can trust me, I love you, being bi doesn’t mean I’ll cheat.’ Then they did just that, playing right into the hands of the untrustworthy, bise*ual cheat trope.
