In 1980, the Zawya asphalt factory was inaugurated. The opening of the Benghazi asphalt factory in 1984 started with a total refining capacity of 200000 tons per year. The oil mixing and filling plant was also incorporated in 1983 with a production capacity of 60,000 tons annually.
