Summarized Content

Highlight of a good mixed bag (roach, chub & dace - no perch, they were away on their annual hols). Wag'n'mag. Thanks to the Fisheries team for clearing out overgrown pegs, but don't forget my bacon sarnie next time lads. Chub says: Da*n, fell for that old double bronze I caught this 10lb'er from below the weir at Marlcliff on a legered smelt in slack water. Alex Noke slow. Switched to the far bank wag'n'mag line which I'd been feeding from the off and the catch rate increased markedly. P.S. Not trying to monopolize your photo section, just to highlight how well the Avon is fishing at the moment and, maybe, encourage others to submit photos of Match and the reel is a trusty ABU 506M, insert peaco*k waggler, 0.08mm hooklength and 22 barbless Drennan carbon match hook. Wed 21st Hi, To add to Paul Hitchmans Marcliff and Bidford chub fest, attached is a picture of a 5lb 2oz chub I took from the top end of Marcliff on the 12th November. This was one of 9 fish, four over 4lb, all on double maggot fished on a 2g Bolo float across. Dr Mick Hanley 14Nov2018 - Bidford Left Bank. 7 big chub (2 hidden underneath) on the wag'n'mag - single & double bronze maggot on a size 20 Drennan chub hook (shame they stopped making them, but I've got a few stockpiled). Pulled out of another couple under my own feet after playing them over from the far bank ! Rod bent like a horse-shoe, pulling them away from far bank snags. Paul Hitchman. 12oz 'spotty' and 4lb+ chub, from below the weir at Marlciff, last Wednesday. Both caught using - wag'n'mag (double bronze). Rod, 13ft Hello, just a quick line and a pic of this stunning brownie I caught on my first roving session to the river Alne. It took a lobworm that was intended for chub or perch. It’s a lovely bit of river with lots of character and I look forward to exploring it further this winter. I thought I’d photograph the fish as it’s colours were lovely on a very wet Autumn morning. And yes it was returned to the Local angler Dave caught this pike approximately 27 pounds at Aberbechan. Kind regards Mike Wood, bailiff.

Birmingham Anglers ociation :: Pennyford Hall

[censored]

Description

Approximately 1 mile of fishing on this small tributary of the river Arrow, either side of Pennyford Lane bridge, near to the village of Wooton Wawen. The stretch contains trout and coarse fish including chub, dace, roach, perch, pike, plus reputedly the odd barbel. Mainly shallow, but with er pools on the many bends, it lends itself to a “roving” style of angling.
