BALLOCH is situated in the WARTRAIL area of the BARKLY EAST district in the EASTERN CAPE at the southern tip of Lesotho and close to Our fa*m BALLOCH, tucked away de*p in the Witteberg mountains, has been in the Frost family for 4  generations and is of the most spectacular and unique valleys you will find in South Africa if not in the world. We love to share its towering crags and abundant sandstone On Balloch we fa*m Bonsmara cattle for beef, and Dohne merino sheep for mutton and wool. BALLOCH COTTAGES are made up of the 'Willowstream Cottage' which is a self catering cottage and  two very special CAMPING areas - the cave camp area where one camps under a huge overhang providing fantastic shelter in bad weather, and the river area next to the stream. Our power is completely off the grid - we run a  hydro electric power system. Because this system relies on rainfall it can be unreliable in times of drought. There is only one power point at each of our two camp areas and no multiplugs are allowed. So a big group must be aware that only one fridge will be acceptable the rest must run on your own power systems, batteries or solar. Our fa*m is host to a number of well known bushman paintings.
