10th Better Air Quality Conference Regional Action, Global Impact 10th Better Air Quality Conference Regional Action, Global Impact Clean Air Asia together with the Clean Air Forum Society of Malaysia (MyCAS), Malaysia’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and the Natural Resources and Environment Board of Sarawak are organizing the 10th Better Air Quality (BAQ) Conference at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching in Sarawak, Malaysia from November 12-16, 2018 with pre-events from November 12-13 and the main conference from Air pollution is now recognized as a global public health crisis, linked to 7 million prema*ure deaths per year, with Asia bearing the brunt of the mortalities. Immediate transformative action and technological innovation are needed to hold global average temperature rise to below 2°C on pre-industrial levels, as stipulated in the Paris Agreement, and in order to achieve the United Nations’ The 10th BAQ is themed, Regional Action, Global Impact. Asia plays a pivotal role in these efforts. Rapid urbanization coupled with continued economic growth has prompted a number of countries – among them Malaysia – to improve air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Faced with worsening air pollution and climate change impacts, it is imperative that the region acts with urgency to The pressing nature of the challenges underscores the need for unity and collaboration in the development of new solutions, designs and approaches that will help us chart more sustainable future horizons. At BAQ 2018, we’re heeding the call to action and coming together in a spirit of unanimity in building a cleaner, greener, and healthier Asia. Sarawak covers an area of 125,000 sq. km., and is the largest of Malaysia’s 13 states. It is located in the heart of Southeast Asia and is one of the two Malaysian states (the other being Sabah to the north) on the island of Borneo.
