design and development. over the years, i have worked independently and collaboratively as*embling a diverse portfolio of designs. i offer a unique perspective and personal approach to every project. for more information, please contact me directly. my name, of course, is ben ricks. i am 25 years old. i am a senior at utah valley university in their 3d animation and game development major. i am a technical artist and 3d generalist. i have published several as*ets including a very useful toolset for unity3d titled i enjoy rigging and animation of characters and models. i am fully capable of programming in c#, mel, and python. i am currently working to improve my knowledge of those languages as well. i am fluent in the game engine unity, the texture creation software substance designer, and substance painter, maya, and am in the process of learning houdini fx, zbrush, and after effects. i previously worked on  vr robotic dinosaur battle arena game. during which time i took on the role as the lead technical artist. i created the majority of the custom shaders and did the heavy lifting for as*et placement and implementation. i created one of the main dinosaurs for the game which is being implemented in the film i am currently working on based in the same world. the film centers its story around my dinosaur “cap”. i have as*isted and will continue to as*ist in the animation of said film. i currently live in salt lake city, utah but am willing, if needed, to relocate.
