bishop samuel chuka ekemam,sr. of  a.m.e zion church ------------------------- the origin of the church in octomber 1796 the african methodist episcopal zion church founded in new york city. the organization grew out of well-known dissatisfaction among the african-american worshippers over the acts of racial discrimination and segregation they received at the services ofthe john street methodist church. the first independent act of these african- americans was to sever all connections with the white church. the movement began when blacks withdrew from the methodist episcopal church after a group of leading black men in clas* #31 of the said church met and agreed to form a separate society of                           the holy scriptures we believe that the bible is god-inspired; perfect, with no mistakes; that god told certain men thousands of years ago what to write in it; that it is there to help us and to show everybody jesus-the son of god, the savior of mankind; that it tells people how to live and be saved.
