the inn is perfectly located in the historic district of montford, circa 1895. an ideal jumping - off point for the city (only a half mile walking distance) with its abundant shops, fantastic restaurants, and montford offers easy access to the blue ridge parkway and all the main highways. it is only 2.5 miles to the biltmore estate entrance and the biltmore village, yet is surrounded by a lovely residential neighborhood with tennis courts, greenways and the longest-running shakespeare theater in the state!  the black walnut bed and breakfast inn was designed and built by richard sharp-smith in 1899. he was the supervising architect for the it is a grand example of his interpretation of the english - shingle style with its half-timbering, original diamond-paned windows, and the inn has been beautifully maintained and is restored to enhance the historic character, yet offer modern comforts like air conditioning, wi-fi, and private baths en-suite without sacrificing the original details! . we would like to help you choose wisely, and consider the value of a bed and breakfast stay! included in our room rates are the amazing breakfast served every morning. a full three courses from 8:30-9:30 am. a welcoming afternoon tea, every day from 5 - 6 pm, complimentary beverages, evening turndown service with light housekeeping and homemade candies, and off-street parking. all guest rooms have private baths en-suite. all but the dogwood have working fireplaces. it is a perfect stay in any season. we hope to share with you the real asheville experience,  the warmth, the history, the art in all things, and its independent spirit and everything that set this special place apart from all others.. please see for yourself why we are the experts favorite and have been featured and awarded by: airlines’ celebrated living magazine reveals platinum list award winners
