We are riding to raise awareness of dementia. Organisers Nick, Pierre and James have first hand experience with the disease. Both of Nick’s grandmothers pas*ed away after suffering from dementia, and Nick's father was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2011. Pierre’s mother was diagnosed in 2015. James worked in aged care for 7 years and witnessed the impact on families.  Their personal experiences, as well as those of many of their close friends, prompted the guys to use their pas*ion for cycling to raise awareness and funds to help find a cure for the terrible disease. The goal for the 2018 Ride to Remember is to raise $100,000 for Dementia Australia. All funds raised by the ride will go towards Dementia has become the leading cause of death among Australian women, and remains the second leading cause of death for all Australians (ABS There are more than 410,000 Australians currently living with dementia. This is on track to reach 530,000 by 2025. Without a major breakthrough in research, it is expected to soar to over 1.1 million Australians by 2056. A challenging yet beautiful ride - 155km in distance, and elevation of 1,700m. Four groups starting from the North Bondi Surf Life Saving Club, riding out of the Eastern Suburbs and travelling through parts of the Royal National Park to Wollongong, Kiama and finishing in Berry on the NSW south coast.  The ride is an open road event, adhering to normal road rules and is sanctioned by Cycling NSW.
