​I am here to present 2018 Budget Proposals. Before presenting the Budget, let me thank all of you Distinguished and Honourable Members of the National As*embly, and indeed all Nigerians, for your support and prayers for my full recovery while I was on medical vacation. I am very pleased to address this Joint Session of the National As*embly, on the revenue and expenditure estimates, and related matters, of the Federal Government of Nigeria for the 2018 fiscal year. The 2018 Budget will consolidate on the achievements of previous budgets and deliver on Nigeria’s Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) 2018 – 2020. Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, on May 18th 2017, signed three executive orders that will significantly change some of the ways government business and operations are conducted in the country forthwith. The Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma, explained that the 2018 Budget would consolidate on the achievements of the 2016 and 2017 Budgets and advance delivery of the goals of Nigeria’s Economic Recovery and Growth Plan 2017 – 2020. Speaking during the public presentation of the 2018 budget in Abuja, the Honourable Minister disclosed that the FGN plan to spend more on critical ongoing infrastructure projects that have potentials for job creation and inclusive growth.
