©2018 by businesses for voting. proudly created with wix.com the goal for businesses for voting is to give small business owners ideas to help with the accessibility and incentives to increase civic engagement.  every business is different but with a little effort we can as*ist our family of employees to go out and vote.  if you are interested in learning more or have ideas to contribute, please sign up and join the discussion. no matter what your politics or party affiliation are, we can all agree as business owners that we have a vested interest in supporting our family of coworkers.  helping to facilitate their right to vote can be relatively easy, and can reap tremendous benefits with morale, culture, hiring, retention, brand image, and loyalty. small businesses are the backbone of america.  there is not a cure all for addressing the voter turnout issues we have in our country, but the following are some great ideas that you can implement today.  some employees only have a few minutes for lunch.  give them an hour or two.  extend all lunches during early voting, or just on an depending on how much of a statment you want to make, give every opportunity to your employees by making election day a holiday.  if a major barrier to your employees voting is missing out on hours, then give them pto for taking a few extra hours out of thier week to contact a local registrar. they can come to your business to register voters and answer any questions about how, when, and where to vote.  another barrier to entry is educating people to where the local polling stations are.  find out where your nearest one is and post it you're a small business owner.  volunteer your time for a couple of hours to allow one of your employees to go down to the voting booth.. at the restaurant we decided to close on national election day for half of the day to give everyone an opportunity to go vote.  we also. decided to give all of our employees 1 hour of paid time off if they wanted to find time to vote early. i think its going to make a.
