I love Cape May. I roll down the windows when we get close and breathe in the salty, marshy air. It means I’m home, even though I don’t My dog Chip loves Cape May too, and he knows the way! He sticks his nose out the window on Rt 47 and senses the dunes are near. Once on the sand, he lifts his nose in the air and raises his right paw, tracking a seagull. He loves to stare them down and pretends he I’ve always taken a piece of Cape May home with me—a bottle of sand, a t-shirt, a Christmas ornament. I used to make fun of people who put coats on dogs. Then I got Chip. Then I bought him a coat. But I wanted him to have something with Cape May on it. I looked around the boardwalk and the mall but couldn’t find anything. So with my design partner, Betsy Frimmer, we decided to design our own clothing and accessories for dogs, and Cape May Pet Designs was born. We are partial to Cape May, but we know dogs and their humans love all the great beaches on the Jersey shore, and all along the coast.
