cimda (canine immune mediated disease awareness) was formed in 2000 by jo tucker, after jo’s beardie gi*l, bonnie, developed and died as a result of inappropriate treatment. it was evident that there was very little known about autoimmune disease and there appeared to be no help or support for owners who were desperately trying to cope and nurse their dogs through these potentially life threatening diseases. so jo decided to help people whose dogs were suffering from autoimmune disease (sometimes referred to as immune mediated disease) and cimda has been going strong ever since. the cimda support forum (formerly a yahoo group) was formed in august 2002 when it became impossible for jo to help everyone by phone, and we realised that the internet was the way to widen cimda’s knowledge. since then the group of people has grown and grown and now there is a huge network of folk many of whom have detailed knowledge of several ai diseases. jo is still at the helm of cimda support and share your experiences, or ask questions of other members. discuss medical treatments - but most of all support each other on a day to day basis to enable us all to cope better with these difficult diseases.. please note, if members of the cimda support forum, choose to act on any information, tips or advice obtained from the group, it is. advisable that they should first consult their veterinary surgeon. cimda or any individual member of this group cannot be held responsible for the management or treatment of members dogs. opinions posted are generally the opinions of the individual and should be treated as such - we are not vets, nor a substitute for qualified veterinary advice. there are individual sections for individual diseases which should make it easier for new members in particular. there is also a general ai disease section if you are not sure which section to post in, then post here and a moderator will move your post to the appropriate section if need be. there is also a general canine health section, and a general chat section if members wish to post anything else. we
