MY EXPERIENCE IN UBC'S 2ND DEGREE COMPUTER SCIENCE PROGRAM (BCS ICS) I’ve moved to Medium! I will be posting regularly there throughout the summer and will also migrate the posts in this blog. I’m done my second term of the BCS program, and my first academic year of the program.  It’s been a hell of a ride so far.  8 months ago, I knew nothing about object-oriented programming, data structures and algorithms, or system-level software engineering.  Now I can tell what an object is, why we have them, how to reverse a linked-list, how concurrency works, and a brief history of computer processors. Rather than saying BCS is an intense program, I want to say that learning computer science, or any software field, is intense. Writing software is very unforgiving.  Either everything works perfectly or it doesn’t work at all.  One small bug can have catastrophic effects on a program or system.  When everything works, the highs are really high.  When nothing works, the lows are really low. our most difficult computer science courses. I’m in awe of my colleagues and they inspire me everyday. They encourage me to keep going, even when I start getting cynical. around a common thread.  There is no malice among us.  There is no competition.  Only the drive to get better and to help each other. development program, where the cohort are experienced professionals, is a fantastic environment to be in. If you have an opportunity like this one, and you can afford it personally and professionally, don’t hesitate, whether you decide to do a bootcamp, or full computer I really enjoyed this course.  This is the fundamental course you need to have before attempting any kind of interview questions.  I was really surprised about how well CPSC 110 prepares you for this course.  If you know recursion, the material in this course should be very fun and interesting.  Also, because 110 has so many applications using trees and graphs, a lot of the material you would
