We are a friendly growing chess club based in the heart of Crewe (near Asda), and we meet up every Wednesday evening from 6:30pm onward. The club is open to all players of any age or strength, and new members are always welcome. The club forms part of the local chess league, and so there is plenty of opportunity for competitive chess for those inclined. So, if you live in or around Crewe, and are looking for a friendly chess club that meets every week, then we hope you’ll come along to investigate. CREWE CHESS CLUB ( We actually play upstairs in the Crewe Amalgamated Anglers Club) CW1 2PY                                                                                                                                                                                    The club is within a minutes walking distance of Crewe bus station, and there is also free parking in the evening on the ASDA car park Crewe Chess Club participates mainly in the North Staffs District Chess League running numerous teams and has recently entered a single team in the Wirral League. It is our aim to offer league chess to all members on a competitive basis. For friendly chess you can simply turn up at the club any Wednesday evening from 6:30pm, and the odds are that you’ll be sitting down playing chess within ten minutes. If you are a new face at the club, whether a junior or veteran, you will be most welcome. Crewe had been without a chess club for many years, and players in the area wanting a regular game of chess, have had to travel much further to clubs such as Alsager, Chester and Holmes Chapel. So the Crewe Chess Club was resurrected in June 2014 by Martin Gill, Dave Price, George Scattergood, and  Les Hall and soon followed by Karl Lockett.
