Actor Cynthia Preston Biography

Biography: Cynthia Preston fell into acting by chance, initially taking up modeling cl es to overcome her extreme shyness.  Soon after, at the young age of 15, Cynthia found herself modeling for top brands and international campaigns, working overseas in Japan for several months at a time.  Finding her love for the camera and wanting to express herself more, Cynthia turned to acting, landing the role as Jani Browning in the CBS television movie Miles to Go, shortly after graduating high school. She continually worked, landing roles in offbeat independent movies like Pin, The Brain and Prom Night III, as well as doing a substantial amount of voice-over roles including the popular Princess Zelda in the Mario Bros. cartoon series. In 1994 Cynthia made her film festival debut playing the mentally disturbed groupie in Whale Music, which opened the Toronto Film Festival and was nominated for Best Picture in Canada.  Cynthia also co-starred in Thom Fitzgerald’s film The Event with an ensemble cast including Olympia Dukakis, Parker Posey and Sarah Polley, which premiered at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival to rave reviews.  From 2002 to 2005 Cynthia was best known as the infamous mobster Faith Roscoe on the popular soap opera General Hospital.  Named the killer in Victoria’s Secret Lingerie, Faith became one of General Hospital’s most notorious villains as well as one of the most popular characters among audiences.  Cynthia’s extensive acting credits include numerous roles in series, TV movies and film showcasing her versatility to shine across all genres.   Most recently Cynthia commands the big screen in the upcoming remake of the cult horror cl ic Carrie, playing Eleanor Snell.  The much-anticipated blockbuster stars Julianne Moore and Chloe Grace Moretz as the sheltered high school who unleashes her newly developed telekinetic powers after being pushed too far by her peers.   The popular 70’s remake will hit theatres in October later this year.  On the small screen, Cynthia has starred in several TV movies including Lifetime’s controversial A Woman’s Rage, A Sister’s Secret and Lone Rider.  Her guest TV appearances include CBS’ hit Two and a Half Men, FOX’s Bones, SyFy network’s Lost s and Haven, CBS’s Flashpoint and the new NBC hit Hannibal.
