These mas*ive an*mals have been used throughout the canine world to increase the size and strength of Austrian Boarhounds and Irish Wolfhounds. Officially recognized as a breed by the American Kennel Club in 1887, Great Danes are well-known to develop and grow at near astronomical rates, both physically and mentally. Danes weighing around 5-8 pounds at one month of age, and can easily weigh about 65-100 pounds at 6-months of age. This pace begins to slow - much to the relief of their owners - at about 18 months when they should measure in at about 30-32 inches tall at the shoulder, depending on gender.
