Before joining DOBT, Josh worked for the World Bank Group, Google and UNICEF Innovations, helping governments use technology to become more effective and inclusive. He is on leave from a PhD at Princeton University and has competed in several ultra-marathons. Victor Lymar is an accomplished software engineer. He comes to DOBT from Scribd (YC S06), where he worked on one of the world's largest Rails apps in production. He is a graduate of UC Berkeley's Computer Science & Cognitive Science program and is also an avid rock climber. Kari is a writer and developer who previously raised funds for community-based organizations and served as a fellow at The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. She is a graduate of Pomona College and a competitive powerlifter. As a graduate of Missouri S&T, Andrew brings experience in software development at both startups and tech giants. He has written two novels and 100+ short stories and contributed to open source products for writers and other creatives. From our customers to our colleagues, everyone with whom we interact deserves a basic level of decency. We place ourselves in other people's shoes and adjust our behavior to treat them in a way that honors their dignity. We want to empower each other to do our best work and help each other feel like valued members of the team. When we provide critique or feedback to our colleagues, we try to build them up, not tear them down. No matter how far we've come, there's always room for us to be better. We set a high bar for everything we do and aspire to excellence. But once we achieve a seemingly impossible goal, we keep going. We question the way things are as a way to engage with the world.
