welcome to the eoin murray memorial scholarship website. application process for 2019 is now open.  please email a completed. together with a writing sample, to loretta brady at [email protected] by 31st january 2019. ​eoin murray was a poet, a musician and a student of university college cork.  he valued creativity, authenticity and connection with nature and humanity.  he worked hard in his short life to pursue his art forms and to use them to connect with people in a sincere and honest way.  he succeeded in touching the lives of many of those around him with his kindness and creativity. eoin pas*ed away suddenly due to underlying heart conditions on the 14th of august, 2015 at the age of 23.  while the loss felt by his pas*ing can never really be alleviated, we are working to create something positive from it through this scholarship.  with this scholarship, in as*ociation with the college of arts, celtic studies and social sciences of university college cork, we hope to both keep his spirit alive and to support others like him in their creative endeavours.  eoin would have given the world a great body of poetry, through the scholarship we aim to support the creation of such work in other young poets. we will award the eoin murray memorial scholarship annually to a student of the arts ba in as*ociation with ucc.  the recipient will be selected from a shortlist compiled by a judging panel which will include the ucc writer-in-residence, the head of the school of english and lecturers in creative writing, the librarian, and friends and family of eoin murray. the chosen student will receive €1500 and will submit a body of written work with an opportunity to perform the work at eoin’s this site is both a vehicle to communicate about the scholarship, and a repository for some of eoin's work and the tributes created for him following his pas*ing.  we will also use the site as an archive of the scholarship recipients’ work, thus creating an enduring and
