Some top notch Ragga Jungle and Jungletek from badman Simply Dread. This guy is one to watch with a load of digi releases last year and For our second release Erisian welcomes Keep It Down Sounds main man Major Upset to the fold with ‘Major Look, Major Stare’ a mischievous collage of prototypal samples, malleate beats & intricate amens. Kicking things off we have the devastating bounce of ‘Bras* Attack’ – an instant favourite round here. Next along is a cheeky little reworking of ‘Zorba The Greek’, just the sort of thing to bring a smile to your face as the sun comes up. Following that is ‘Ms World’, a somehow equally laid back and frantic paced juxtaposition of upbeat Jungle; and it all ends on the epic ‘I Lack Focus’, a constantly evolving barrage of discordant beauty. A blistering effort for what is only this man’s debut release! Our first bit of wax represents the UK rave underground through the variety of sounds that reverberate in our fields, warehouses and clubs. Each track blends attitude and charisma with mechanically synthesised beats which will undoubtedly be shaking speakers in Dropping first is ‘$cu*banks’ by Dangermarc featuring the rabid spitting of Jonny Turpetine and My Bad Sister. A Punk vs DnB rave anthem that entertains in spades but still has time to stick its middle finger squarely at the oligopolists. Tailing that is ‘Raw’ by Katch Pyro & C3B, a high octane blast of Hiphop fronted Tekno with infectiously rude kicks and magnetic character. On the flip side we meet Pastaman’s ‘Selecta Get Ruf’; a fresh reworking of moody, intelligent jungle played out inna halfstep style and flanked by gut wrenching sub frequencies. Lastly, bringing it all to a suitably epic finale is ‘As Time Goes By’ from Katch Pyro, a masterpiece of stirring, tekky drum & bas* with a soulful majesty that hits at the core of what life is really all about.
