new voyage announcement: exxpedition round the world 2019-2021. our next set of voyages form exxpedition round the world 2019-2021 – a pioneering ocean sailing expedition to circu*navigate the globe with the aim of raising awareness of, and explore solutions to, the devastating environmental and health impacts of single-use plastics. all-women voyages to make the unseen seen, from the toxics in our bodies to the toxics in our seas. since 2014, exxpedition has been running all-women sailing voyages with a focus on plastics and toxics in our ocean. over 100 multidisciplinary crew members have been sailing on 11 voyages completing citizen science, community outreach and exploring how they – to raise awareness of the devastating impact of single-use plastic and toxics in the world’s oceans – to celebrate women in science, leadership and adventure – to create a community of female, multidisciplinary, changemakers and inspiring global ambas*adors to tackle plastic pollution and its environmental and health impacts – to champion and contribute to innovative scientific research to tackle the crisis. like to as*emble a crew of inspiring female role models and help address the balance. while there is no scientific consensus, there is an evidence base building that environmental exposure from chemicals is impacting women’s health. we would like to better understand the links between health of the environment and of our bodies. cleaning up the plastic is one approach, but what’s needed is multidisciplinary action. we aim to encourage tackling the ocean plastic from every angle, particularly stemming the flow of plastic at the source, before it reaches the sea, in new and innovative ways. this sky ocean rescue docu*entary tells the story of our intrepid crew and their sail through uk waters in 2017. it’s a view of life on board from the crew’s perspective, including sky journalist hannah thomas-peter. this docu*entary has been shown on sky atlantic and sky news channels.
