I think the official translations are trying a bit TOO hard to represent everybody’s characteristic speech styles in English.  The problem is that in English, speech styles are mostly denoted by accents and vocal tones rather than vocabulary and grammar, so in the written word they all end up coming across very similarly.  Japanese has more leniency in tossing around varying levels of formality that can actually be represented in text.  Like, by all accounts, in English Arahabaki should have, like, a Canadian accent, like some fa*mer out of Saskatoon or something.  In Japanese he has a “Hokkaidou hick” accent, which is the equivalent “north country” accent.  Hell, if I was writing this in British English, Hiyori would speak your London standard, Yato would be all chav, Arahabaki would be Northern, and most of the gods would be “posh”.  But there’s no way to represent that in text without the additional implication of “these characters are British”.  So usually the best I can do without casting someone as a particular nationality that they’re not is differentiate people by “do they use contractions or not, how big is their vocabulary, and how proper
