Hynd, Zimbalist, Goggans, Sanders - Nov. 2018 Photo: Ruddy Chas Smith, Matt Warshaw, Eric Geiselman, and David Scales - Photos: Ruddy Miller, Warshaw, Smith, Scales, and Brooks - Photo: Maldanado for the 2018 festival, which wrapped up on November 9thand 10thin the amphitheater at Atlantic Center for the Arts, in New Smyrna Beach, without question, heat lighting in the sky behind the screen, elegant lines, and interviews with personalities that don’t always get to hold a microphone.  It was a fantastic film to kick off the final installment for the year. with interviews about getting boats out to Teahupoo during a ban, to getting blown out of the best five minute, one-wave session ever.  We were even treated to an enthusiastic Q &A with director Brent Storm, deftly handled by Co-Founder and Festival Director, John Brooks, and juxtaposed the heavy action with sustainable materials used by a shaper in Brittany, splitting time in Guadalupe.  It took home the took home Best Soundtrack – Short and queued up the crowd for a delightful and informative look at a history of surfing in Europe, a beautifully shot movie of the lengths their crew went to for uncrowded, and in some cases, cracking surf.
