supporting nursing education and promoting the nursing profession!​ ​. 3 reasons to donate to the fnsna! - support the future of the nursing profession!. ​listen to aric shimek, scholarship recipient share his thoughts on how receiving a scholarship has influenced his career path in nursing. the foundation of the national student nurses as*ociation (fnsna) was created in 1969 and honors frances tompkins, the first executive director of the national student nurses' as*ociation.  organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, the foundation awards scholarships to qualified nursing students annually. over $4.5 million dollars in scholarships to undergraduate nursing students, and over $3.9 in promise of nursing undergraduate scholarships have been awarded.  ​​the foundation is organized as a 501 (c) (3) charitable foundation. contributions to the fnsna are tax-deductible.        a 2018 scholarship recipient said it best when she expressed her gratitude on receiving funding: “my lifelong dream of attending nursing school is moving forward thanks to generous educational scholarship like yours. since being named one of the recipients, my dream is becoming a reality at davenport university school of nursing. this scholarship award gives me an opportunity to earn skills that will serve the nursing community. thank you personally for your generosity. without scholarship patrons willing to support nursing education, students such as me would be unable to pursue advanced your scholarship will help me earn my credentials as a registered nurse. my pas*ion for nursing is matched only by my love for caring for people. so my decision to specialize in nursing comes from the heart. once again, thank you for the vote of confidence and the scholarship. ​your generosity has made a difference!”
