For this exhibition, established wood artists were challenged to move away from the forms for which they are known, and to bravely explore new horizons. The exhibition catalog features examples of each artists signature work, and provides narratives on the process of creating new work for the show. New Horizons was created by members of the Mid-Columbia Woodturners, led by Jim Christiansen, Jerry Johnson, Ron A family-friendly exhibition introduces how woodturning works, and offers samples of wood to heft, sniff, and admire. The AAW has more than 365 local chapters in the United States, Canada, Taiwan, and Japan. Members of the AAW include professionals, am*teurs, gallery owners, collectors, and wood and tool suppliers. The AAW publishes American forum, and provides educational grants, insurance and more to its members. The AAW is dedicated to providing information and support to its members and others, at all skill levels, through publications, skill-building videos, and more. The local chapters of the AAW provide in-person instruction, fellowship and networking for turners at all levels.
