The Galway Arts Centre manages two buildings, both located in the city centre: Our headquarters is located at 47, Dominick Street. The premises comprises of 3 galleries, with a combined total of 3,000ft2 of exhibition space, showing national and international contemporary arts, together with rooms for clas*es, workshops and meetings. Our building was built in the 1840's and was originally the residence for the Persse family, whose most famous member was Lady Augusta Gregory,  patron of the Arts and co-founder of Dublin's Abbey Theatre. It has been our home since 1988. The Galway Arts Centre also regularly hosts a number of daytime and evening clas*es in areas such as Art, Writing and Photography, typically running for 8 to 10 weeks, and also workshops in Drama, Music and Voice. You need Ja*aScript enabled to view it.. with several Galway Festivals including CÚIRT INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF LITERATURE, TULCA FESTIVAL OF VISUAL ART, BABORÓ INTERNATIONAL. 2018 is the year of partnerships for GAC. In May the gallery will work with Basic Space Dublin. Entitled Yellow Air in Room 625, artists Emma Haugh and Eimear Walshe will respond to queer community and space in collaboration with the public through sculpture, video, workshops, performances and community events. This project will run from 4 May to 2 June and include a screening, exhibition, community club night and GAC is also working with Vivienne Di*k who will curate a group exhibition and film programme in June. Another large group show will open in August, this time curated by Gregory McCartney as part of Abridged; a poetry and photography journal published several times a year in Northern Ireland.
