It may be the off-season, but don’t be fooled, it’s never really the off season for someone who enjoys hiking. They may like to ski, or snowshoe (or Netflix) to pas* the time away during the cold dark months. Or they might be the type who migrates to more hospitable climates when the weather turns ugly further north. Whatever the case, one thing is for sure – they haven’t forgotten about hiking. This time of year is always a season filled with nostalgia. There’s something about fall that causes a cascade of memories and reflections on the year that went by in a blur. The powder you skied early in the year, the mountain biking you did in the spring, the mountains you climb during the summer and the canyons you hiked in the fall. If you’re anything like me, you probably spend your time looking at pictures from not just this current year but many years. Excuse the pun but I’m always awash with thanksgiving and wonder. The dog days are on. They’re half over.
