i’ve still been reading as much as i ever have, and it is nice to read without the responsibility of writing a review after it. but…i miss blogging. i miss putting my words and thoughts down about a book. maybe not every book, but i miss having my input. so i do think i want to start blogging more regularly again, i just don’t know how i want to go about it yet. but before i even more » this was a lot of fun. like, a lot. i’ve never liked a gretchen mcneil book before, so this is a first. i will now be taking a second look at her stuff to see if there’s anything else i want to try. i have one thing i must mention, though. i’m not sure i agree with how mental illness was handled in this book or used as a plot device. i enjoyed the book completely, but i don’t know. something doesn’t sit right with me and left me a little uncomfortable. i should say, that as a sufferer of more » i don’t know exactly why, but i’ve been reading almost exclusively science fiction lately, and anything i try that isn’t science fiction seems to swiftly get the dnf because it is just not maintaining my attention. that’s why i chose to read sanctuary, even though it isn’t due to be published until july 2018. i knew it was likely i would enjoy it, and i did. though it isn’t my favorite science fiction novel i read this year, it’s exciting, well-paced, and i liked the romance which is something i can’t generally claim. this book is equally one of the most frustrating books i have ever read, and also one of the most enjoyable books i have ever read. how, you ask? well, the first page of the lido makes absolutely zero sense, and the ending pissed me off to the nth degree, but everything in between was perfectly adorable. so let’s start with the bad stuff first. the book starts in second person, and i immediately thought i was going to hate this book because i don’t like books set in second person at all, but then it disappeared never to be more »
