He has done so well he recently won a scholarship to one of the best schools in Burundi, Gitega International Academy (GIA). Thacien's face lights up when he talks about school. He's joined the basketball team, he's popular and well respected.  His leadership qualities shine through. There is hope for Burundi thanks to your support for children like Thacien and schools like GIA. Where do you go when your home is the forest and you are banned from where your people have lived for centuries? Such is the lot of the Batwa people (or pygmies) who are treated as less than human in Burundi. No loos, no schools, no water, no healthcare, no jobs and TripAdvisor often features our hotel, KCC as the number one hotel in Burundi's capital! But KCC, or Kings Conference Centre is SO much more than that. For 160 people, it is a lifeline. 20 staff are employed there. Each has an average family size of eight. In a country where jobs are a rarity, this is a priceless gift. Any surplus made by KCC goes to support the work of SU, one of the most respected charities in Burundi. KCC is truly a light in the city, doing business with integrity. After visiting Burundi, it was impossible not to do something to support both the clear needs and the wonderful work of the GLO teams. GLO is phenomenal. The people we are partnering are so special.  Their faithfulness and courage in the midst of very difficult circu*stances blows me away. It was so humbling to meet all of them after many years of praying for them. The future of Burundi depends on them.
