Green Street Academy (GSA), a non-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) corporation, is a public charter school located in Baltimore, MD, founded in 2010. The school’s mission is to prepare middle and high schools students in Baltimore City for college and careers in the The Green Street Academy student experience includes a focus on traditional academic success and pre-professional career training. All entering middle school students are as*essed, their academic pathways planned, including remediation and counseling, and their progress monitored. The school’s goal is to ensure all students reach grade level in reading and math when they begin high school. High school students continue to fulfill their academic requirements as well as receive pre-professional training, leading to meaningful internships and certifications en route to either higher education or a career path of their choosing. Once Green Street Academy students master middle school academics and participate in entry-level project-based learning and entrepreneurship activities, they proceed to high school where they select from a variety of sustainability-oriented career content all of GSA’s career tracks is a technology platform that enables students to prepare for certifications, internships, and careers, in whatever industry they choose. Industry partners will evolve over time, but many have already stepped forward to as*ist the instructional team with creating and refining the content they consider vital for success in future careers into the GSA curriculum.
