navigation project case studies evolving event entry dynamic data tables rules engine interface contact presence is the premiere venue entry and fan identity platform in the live event space. in 2017, i was brought on to lead the design of presence and to evolve the beta into a fully-scaled, ma*ure product. presence won sports business journals' best in sports technology award. the design of an entire lifecycle, from entry rules to digital pas*es. as the lead designer on presence, i owned all parts of the product, from the desktop ui, to the hand-held android scanner application, and finally to the fan's digital pas*es on both ios and android. the presence team underwent a significant leadership overhaul and had an entire team of developers added to the project at the end of 2017. there was a dearth of research and docu*entation, so i set out to learn as much as i could about our users through remote testing and over the course of five months, i conducted 24 remote testing sessions with 18 different client users, across 10 organizations of varying i also went to four client venues across three cities during live events so that i could observe and understand the real-life situations for both remote and in-person scenarios, i relied on a handful of research techniques to gather data: contextual inquiry: used to kick off initial client calls as a tool to gain a broad understanding of their venues and any client-specific prototype testing: used not only to validate that a feature fulfilled client requirements, but also as a usability test. prototypes were shared to the client via invision links and clients were asked to complete tasks without being lead. card sorting: used in a follow-up session to help me understand an individual organization's priorities. the results were weighted and compiled, then prioritized and used to drive feature development. the breadth of presence begins on a desktop ui, tm1 entry, where clients begin to set up entry rules for their events. many of these
