In the recent California fires, people have perished and homes lost. A number of Hollywood Heritage members have experienced this loss directly and our hearts go out to them. Among the losses during this terrible fire season has been the Paramount Ranch Western Street sets at the Agoura Ranch location. The Western Street had been the location every summer for more than twenty years of The Hollywood Heritage Museum's Silents Under the Stars presentations of silent films in the evenings. Attendees range from residents to film buffs who would travel a signficant distance to enjoy the open air, the historic set tour and enjoy a picnic supper before viewing the films. Donations for victims of the California Wildfires can be made through The American Red Cross at their site HERE An evening to unveil the forthcoming docu*entary from acclaimed director Jeffrey Schwarz which focuses on the strange but true story of Gloria Swanson's attempts to create her own musical version of Sunset Boulevard decades before the Andrew Lloyd Webber version ever hit the stage. She teams up with two young songwriters, Richard Stapley and Di*kson Hughes, who were also a couple. But the project is jeopardized when Gloria falls for one of the men, leading to a dramatic love triangle. The program will include a short 10-minute sample reel of the docu*entary (which is still in production) alongside a Q&A with the director, Jeffrey Schwarz and other special guests. In addition, we will be screening rare film & television clips plus interviews with Gloria Swanson herself which give insight into the personal life of this legendary figure of silver screen.
