Our rooms are tastefully restored & cater to those looking for more Cognac & tawny port (for a touch of sweetness) form the base for the bubbly, well balanced libation, with just a hint of lemon & simple syrup. The dry aftertaste arrives from Australian sparkling wine added just at the end.  Goes great with a view. The Basin is my favourite place to swim on the island with the most beautiful crystal clear water, it’s almost like swimming in a pool. I recommend dropping by Rottnest Pedal & Flipper, just behind the hotel & picking up some snorkeling gear. We usually get to the course at around 3pm when the sun is dropping & it becomes a little cooler.  Sunset over the 8th hole is a spectacular sight & the course greens are some of the nicest found in Western Australia. A short walk from the settlement – Vlamingh Lookout is the prime spot to take in some of the most beautiful sunsets on the island.  With the Wadjemup lighthouse in the distance & a good amount of cloud cover – nothing prepares you for such an amazing sight! Nothing better than a jetty jump before lunch on a hot day!  Head out from the front of Hotel Rottnest onto the Hotel jetty & cool off with a well executed dive into the refreshing Thomson Bay water.  Nothing better than finishing up with a cool drink afterwards. Whether it’s hitting my secret fishing spot near Kingstown barracks, a quick squid off the Hotel jetty around 7pm or trying to catch herring off the main jetty – there are plenty of spots to have a great fish.  Plus the General store carries plenty of bait & tackle. Please note: You must be 18 years plus to stay at Hotel Rottnest. Juveniles must be accompanied by a parent or a legal guardian of the juvenile. Penalty: a fine up to $2000.00.
