empowering entrepreneurship and leadership for a brighter future. with great sorrow, we de*ply mourn the outstanding american chinese scientist, the jg jackson and cj wood professor of physics at stanford university, the co-founder and director of hysta, and the founding partner of danhua capital - prof. shoucheng zhang(1963 - 2018). this video is to grieve and memorialize shoucheng, and to express our endless gratitude for his unconditional contribution to hysta established in 1999, hysta was created with the intent to help investors, entrepreneurs, business leaders, young talents, and academics to better connect and leverage the resources of their community. today, hysta has become the leading non-profit us-china professional organization based in silicon valley, with an influential network of 20,000+ members in both silicon valley and across the globe. in close partnership with prestigious universities, corporations, startups, and diverse business organizations, hysta strives to unite their members to bring their leadership and career success to the next level. jerry yang and i took a long walk during hysta's executive summit in pebble beach last year. our discussions quickly accelerated when i returned to china and resulted in the landmark transaction between yahoo and alibaba. hysta has played a very useful role in connecting hysta's de*p roots in china and wide network amongst the chinese american business community in the silicon valley have been very valuable. hysta's executive summits provide business leaders with great opportunities to build valuable connections. having worked in both china and the u.s., i believe technology companies based in these two markets have a lot to learn from each other. i attended and spoke at a number of events hosted by hysta and have taken away as much as i've shared with the audience. i am confident that hysta will continue to bridge the pacific, and help many more chinese professionals in the silicon valley to realize their
