The District of Columbia Section was initially chartered as the Washington and Baltimore Chapter in 1927.  We currently encompas* Northern Virginia (from Harrisonburg to Fredericksburg), Maryland (Columbia to Frederick), and the District of Columbia. The District of Columbia Section includes architects, engineers, interior designers, landscape architects, lighting designers, electrical contractors, lighting manufacturers, representatives and those who are just curious about lighting. Members represent the government agencies, commercial, institutional, retirees, and the interested public.. + IES DC CONTRIBUTES $2,000 TO THE IESNA EMERGING PROFESSIONALS SPONSORSHIP! 14-16 year old high school students about her path to becoming a Lighting Designer. Speaking in Spanish, she conversed with students of how she started finding interest in lighting during high school and college and how it got her to where she is now. Additionally, she explained what lighting design is and how it differs from architecture and interior design. This was held at T.C.
