recently, the global giving foundation selected jafra foundation for relief and youth development to participate in its accelerator, a fundraising opportunity for nonprofit organizations around the world to raise funds for projects near and dear to their hearts. as you know jafra was founded in yarmouk camp by the gras*roots community efforts of palestinian refugees. with the recent military campaign launched there, immense damage and destruction has taken place in the area, leaving 80% of the camp destroyed, and many of its residents forced to migrate. these refugees are at risk of starvation, disease, exposure. jafra’s project targets these individuals, who remain historically under-served and marginalized and encourages them to return, to access. “we still want to be here for our people, leaving them alone is a worst-case scenario” - jafra’s executive director. supported by the efforts of more than 400 volunteers, jafra’s work continues to grow and expand wherever palestinian needs exist. jafra foundation works to ease human suffering for all living in crisis, strives to uplift and empower the palestinian community in jafra supports palestinian and syrian families living inside palestinian camps and gatherings inside syria. operating in both governmental and besieged and hard-to-reach areas, visibly and officially as a civil society foundation. protection jafra foundation has been organizing child protection program which includes psychosocial support sessions, recreational and education support activities on a daily basis, as well as organizing special occasions and celebrations…. personal hygiene has been seriously affected. some of the displaced people, following more than 25 days without cleaning and washing, are forced to visit local residents’ houses in order to use their facilities. jafra foundation respectively attempts to focus on food security program through distributing food baskets to thousands of families as well as other necessities such as blankets and mattresses. more information …
