All I know is that I felt alienated and not normal. I was numb. This sentence is why I’m here writing this blog. I’m here for all the women who are pregnant, facing hardships, or feeling alone. No matter what struggles we may all be facing, there’s no reason to do it alone. Here is the beginning of our journey. It may be different from yours, but maybe we can find a common ground in the midst of our journeys. I’ve dreamt of being a mom for so long. Every li*tle girls dream, right? In the past few years I’ve felt more and more that I’ve been called to be a momma. And hopefully one day a stay at home mom. Which brings me to one of my favorite days. On May 7th we found out we were pregnant- we were ecstatic!! I kept the two pee sticks on our shelf in the living room (yep they’re still there) as a reminder that this was SO real. Almost two years married to my best friend and now our dreams of starting a family together were coming true. I had always dreamed of seeing Brandon be an incredible dad to our little one! God was giving us the greatest gift and we couldn’t be happier! The four weeks between reading ‘pregnant’ on the test and waiting till our first doctor appointment felt like forever….but it had finally arrived. I was 9 weeks pregnant and we were so excited! At this appointment we had our first ultrasound and met our Doctor. She wasn’t at all what we expected, but she had a lot of experience so we rolled with it. Along with introducing herself and getting to know us, she gave us a brief overview of what my results from the blood, urine, and ultrasound were. She said everything looked great and raved (and still does) about how healthy and in great shape my body is… then proceeds to tell us that my uterus is heart-shaped. Sounds sweet right? Come to find out it meant that baby may not have as much room to grow and we would at some point need to start seeing a high risk doctor. Those three words alone. freaked. me. out. With little to no explanation of what this meant I went home and did some research.
