The following are the cornerstones of Ken's Campaign Statement: Raise the QUALITY of our students’ education not just to achieve higher graduation rates but to ensure that HUSD’s students are college and career ready!   We need to include ALL students in this -- English Language Learners, Special Education, and the everyday Joe Raise the level of fiscal responsibility and ACCOUNTABILITY in our school district.   (We can do sooooooo much better)  It's ok to spend money, but we must be accountable to our Hayward community in HOW we spend it. Raise the level of SUPPORT given to our clas*room teachers — making sure that they have what they need! Raise the level of district accountability to hire the best and brightest for our district — a thorough overhaul and streamlining of Rise to implement the district’s newly adapted VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS PLAN.   (It’s one thing to adapt the plan — it’s another Raise the level  of interaction between our schools and the Hayward community at large.       Raise the quality of Special Education in our schools.  We need to ensure that special education is fully funded as it is mandated by the state.  One of the best ways to address this is through early diagnosis and earlier intervention. Raise the quality of the physical environment at all of our school sites -- repair what needs to be repaired and replace what needs to be replaced so that the quality of our wonderful students are reflected in the physical environment they are in. their secondary education experience, only to find out at the end of it that their ladder has been leaning up against the wrong wall.   College is great for some, but we also need to equip those students who choose another career path and help them be successful in doing Ken Rawdon was 29-year pas*ionate teacher in the Hayward Unified School District — mostly at the high school level  (Mt.
