By working together, we can maintain the peace and provide safety and Enforcement Training Academy (ALETA). ALETA trains law enforcement candidates from throughout Louisiana to become P.O.S.T. certified law enforcement officers. Academies are 11 weeks long and include physical training & conditioning along with clas*room instruction. at four locations. In addition to the main correctional facility located downtown, the Corrections department also consists of the Community Corrections Campus located in the former J. Wallace James Elementary School on Poydras Street in North Central Lafayette and the LAPCORR Inmate Industries facility located on Grissom near the Lafayette Airport. In addition to its staff of highly trained enforcement personnel, the Corrections staff also includes dedicated professionals in the field of medicine, education, and counseling to provide a wide variety of services to its offender clients.
