Here is collection of pieces I created with the model Magda as the main subject.  From the first moment I saw Magda I was drawn to her unique beauty.  I feel she has a very cl ic style of beauty and elegance that inspired me to create these pieces.

BIO — Lauren Cutler Artworks

BIO Lauren Cutler is a self taught mixed media artist focusing heavily on collage and large abstract contemporary paintings. Ripping and cutting up anything printed, she creates extremely detailed mixed media mélanges boasting a diversity of vivid colors and veiled themes. Mixing reality with fantasy her work depicts a surreal version of objects, people and places, varying from a simple Italian kitchen to a cluttered junk yard, from a morbid jail cell to a peaceful garden. A hint of spirituality is displayed with her use of angels and her fascination with The Virgin Mary. Her subjects are usually well known icons varying from Mona Lisa and Frida Kahlo to Kate Moss. Occasionally, she will integrate a photo of herself into a piece, with her image sending a subliminal message to the viewer, often difficult to decipher without hints from the artist's other works and recurring themes. She has a growing number of requests from buyers requesting their face be superimposed.    She also uses acrylic paint on canvas to create m ive, vibrant abstract pieces, which take her art in a different direction from her collage work. Omitting meti us detail present in her collage work, her abstract paintings emphasize color contrasts and  concentrate on singular dominating symbols and patterns.   Lauren received her undergraduate degree from Oneonta State University and holds a Masters in Education from Wagner College on Staten Island where she taught High School English for nearly a decade, hating every minute. Desperate for a change, and three credits shy of a second Masters, she up and moved to Rio de Janeiro where she lived as a local, immersing herself into the everyday culture, first comfortably among the wealthy, then near a Favela, which proved to be quite dangerous, but worth the experience, she says. She returned to New York and spent the next eight years hating every job she had. When she saw a neighbor who was moving out about to throw away a large canvas, she took it. Three hours later she'd found her calling.
