The Northwood Academy Charter School (NACS) began operation in September of 2005. We are a K-8 program with a well-developed academic program that emphasizes comprehensive literacy and mathematical instruction in accordance with federal and local standards. Our instructional program is driven by state, local and commercial as*essment results, school achievement and adherence with IEP requirements. Our mission is to prepare our children to take advantage of the wealth of educational opportunities that exist for them. To that end, Northwood has hired a dedicated, skilled instructional staff to guide them in the process. Every staff member is charged with the care and well-being of every child. We believe that all children are able to achieve regardless of their socio-economic status, race, ability level or past academic experience. By respecting and supporting our students, their families and our staff on a regular basis, we honor and uphold this belief. IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER PAJAMA DAY for all students is Friday, December 21st. Please adhere to the following: Sneakers must be worn (no slippers), a shirt and pant or zip up pajama is to be worn (no nightshirts), please make sure the pajama material and any graphics or sayings are appropriate for school. Students performing in the Winter Concert are also permitted to wear their pajamas. There is no fee to participate in this event. WITH HOLIDAY BREAKS ON THE HORIZON, it is important to remember those in our community who are experiencing food insecurity. Foodfinder.us is a nonprofit website and app (for IOS or Android) that offers the location and contact information of more than 40,000 food pantries and similar food programs across the country. The FoodFinder website and app can be utilized to pinpoint local free food providers within the THE PARENT CORE ORGANIZATION MEETING (PCO) will take place on Tuesday, January 8th.
