About the Institution Pillai HOC College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Rasayani was established in the year 2008 by Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai, Chairman and CEO, MES whose vision was to provide students of Rasayani with quality education in a high-tech atmosphere. It is located in a picturesque location of 35 acre campus of green environment where learning can be, indeed a pleasure. It started off with just a handful of students, but today it has grown to a full-fledged Bachelors College with eight disciplines, i.e. B.A., B.Com. (Regular), B.Com.A&F, B.M.S., B.M.M., B.Sc. (Computer Science) and B.Sc. (Information Technology), B.Sc. (General). Another salient feature is that even the cl rooms are internationally designed for the teacher to co-ordinate with the students easily and efficiently. The school has a unique teaching method, which aims at developing the students born talents and potentional, knowledge is variety of audio-visual teaching aids and internet facility to student's right will always be a blazing land mark of Raigad district. The college is located in Pillai HOCL Educational Campus at Rasayani in a multi - dimensional education campus which is surrounded by lush natural beauty and which has state-of-the-art infrastructure providing the right environment for learning. PHCASC is affiliated to and is a constitute college of the University of Mumbai. About Library Pillai HOC College of Arts, Science and Commerce – Library is one of the important central facilities of the Pillai HOC Educational Campus catering to the information needs of faculty, research scholars and students in Arts, Science and Commerce. The main objective is to make Library the most effective Learning Resource centre to contribute to the quality of higher education. The library is also created learning environment by establishing Online Public Access Catalogue Searching Area, Internet browsing area for accessing e-resources, Laptop zone with Wi-Fi facility and specialized workstations like discussion rooms for users. We feel happy to help you with our information sources and services in achieving your academic distinctions. Library houses an enviable collection of resources in the field of, Arts, Science and Commerce, Humanities and allied subjects. The library works with a mandate to serve the information requirements of students and faculties of the institutions. The library serves as a nucleus of information in every branch of knowledge. Rules and Regulations Every user should wear college identity card in library. Books borrowed should be protected from Dust, Rain and Insects etc. Readers should not deface, mark, cut, mutilate or damage library resources in any way. If anyone is found doing so, he will be charged the full replacement cost of the resource. Books removed from the shelves by students, if not required for reference, should be kept on the table nearest to them. Please do not try to shelve them yourself. Collection Services 1. Borrowing Facility / Circulation System Patron Category: There are three main Categories in the system. Students Faculties Non Teaching / Supporting Staff Item / Collection Type: Total collection is divided into following categories. General Books Reference Books Project Reports Journals E-resources Loan Period (day): General books Students - 3 books for 7 days Faculty - 8 books for One Semester Supporting Staff - 5 books for 30 days Loan period for Reference Books: Only in case of an emergency. Fine Structure: Rs. 5 per day fine for every borrowed general books and non book materials. Reservation Policy: There will be maximum 2 and 3 reservations for students and faculty respectively. Reservation will be valid for maximum 3 days for all categories of users. Note: If due date falls on Sunday and holiday it will be excluded for fine calculations. Vacation Issue System: We may, if authorities approve, allow students to get books issued for the entire vacation. 2. Reference Service Library has a Reference Section with a 120 seating capacity. The collection includes Reference books, Textbooks, Books for competitive examinations, Project reports and E-resources. A team of professionals is available in library to ist and guide the user. 3. Photocopy service Photocopies of articles from journals and chapters from textbooks are provided on request at Rs. 1.00 per copy. This facility is not extended to the outside visitors. 4. Internet Access Facility Wi-Fi enabled library provides high speed access to Internet on Laptops and dedicated systems will facilitate research activities in the library. 5. User Orientation Library organizes orientation programmes to its members regularly. It also arranges special talks on new concepts and newly introduced services. Apart from the regular ones users interested may request the library to arrange for special orientation programmes. 6. Plagiarism Check MES has subscribed to Turnitn plagiarism software to check research papers, synopsis, thesis etc. of students and staff. 7. OPAC and MES App Availability of books can be checked from OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue). One dedicated PC is provided for the same. MES App - It gives information regarding previously issued library books like, books issued on our name, due date of the books, Fine amount, Fine paid amount etc. 8. E-resources PHCASC Library has subscribed to N-list which contains E-Journals and E-Books.
