the postgraduate medical council of victoria actively seeks ways to improve the educational and training opportunities available to support the welfare and career development of doctors who have recently graduated or commenced work in the victorian health system. through our work we aspire to promote safe, high quality and accessible healthcare and a sustainable, highly motivated and we have operated within the context of challenges relating to the increase in number of prevocational trainees as a result of the expansion of the victorian medical schools, a new national accreditation and registration scheme (from 1 july 2010), new pathways for the as*essment and supervision of international medical graduates (imgs), implementation of national initiatives, such as the australian curriculum framework for junior doctors, and a national review of medical intern training. we look forward to meeting these challenges and working with our stakeholders on these important issues.. 2018 national pre-vocational medical education forum: 11-14 november. save the date!!! the 2018 australian and new zealand pre-vocational medical education forum will be held in melbourne from 11-14 november 2018.. expressions of interest close friday 7 december 2018  at 5pm. the pmcv will again offer a research incentive grant in 2019 to as*ist developing researchers to undertake research in the field of 1-day programs for jmos & 2-day programs for senior clinicians, supervisors and educators.. hitting the ground running (htgr)-centralised img orientation program 2018. this 2-day program is open to international medical graduates employed or about to commence employment within the australian health system (hospital-based - hmo to registrar level and general practice).
