At Red Hill we have two kindergarten clas*es.  Our kindergarten philosophy puts a strong emphasis on play and discovery. This means that each day we provide time for all the children to pursue areas of interest, learn through play, explore, and develop critical thinking skills within our cooperative learning environment. The social curriculum is just as important as our academic pursuits. Throughout the year students will have daily opportunities to practice and receive support in developing important life skills. This includes, but is not limited to skills such as cooperation, responsibility, respect, flexibility, advocating for themselves, problem solving, and Academic instruction begins at your child’s level and is differentiated to help them meet (and exceed) grade level benchmarks. Most of our instruction will be conducted in small groups, which allows us to better meet your child’s needs. Your child will receive direct instruction from their teacher each day in math and language arts. They will also have opportunities for guided discovery and practice with our TA, other teachers, and with their peers during center time. We’re confident that your support from home combined with our efforts at school will make for a successful kindergarten experience.  We’re excited to take this voyage of learning with you and your child.
