for the knitwear designer who wants stress-free patterns that knitters can happily & successfully complete. my goal is to as*ist knitwear designers create fun & easy-to-complete patterns for fiber arts enthusiasts. just as the craft yarn council strives to as*ist designers to prepare consumer-friendly products; i feel having a properly edited, error-free pattern is the best start. many designers need technical editors. i like that i am depended upon by fiber arts influencers to help them produce error-free patterns and this skill set is right up my alley because the most important quality in a test knitter is that we're able to follow instructions and stick to the deadline -- two characteristics de*ply ingrained in me from my military training.. i'll be the first to admit that i love learning.. especially anything related to yarn. when i first taught myself how to knit, it was in. japan via vhs tapes.. and then with the upgraded version - dvd's. now that youtu*e is around, i don't miss a week without learning a new. technique or honing a particular skill by viewing any one of the great fiber arts influencers out there. i grew up crocheting. i learned around the age of 11, but never really made anything of great significance.. i don't even remember making hats. once i was moved to camp zama, japan in 1999 for military training, i desired the comfort of yarn. unfortunately for me, not being able to 'read' the characters of the japanese language - nor speak it fluently - i was only able to identify knitting needles in the little local shops that were around the u.s. army military base.. so i set out on the journey to learn to knit in 2000 and have been i thought myself to knit by watching vhs tapes & dvd's. i have a pretty decent library of knit books and old magazines in my arsenal, after a frustrating interaction with quite a few knit patterns, i began wondering about the standard for patterns (says the military gi*l use to sop's). once i stumbled up joeli kelly's community for tech editors, i moved on to the tkga's knitting technical editors
