A unique race with a heritage and historic significance.  This event traces the ‘sl*ve route’ and honours those who built Cape Town. The SL*VE ROUTE CHALLENGE brings together people from all walks of life.  The avid runner can enjoy a Half Marathon or a 10km Run and The SL*VE ROUTE CHALLENGE takes you from The City Hall through District 6, Gardens, Company Gardens, Wale Street, BoKaap, Sea Point (Cape Town Stadium), Green Point (Fort Wynyard), CBD and back down Darling Street into the Castle of Good Hope and the finish on the Runners and walkers are given the opportunity to run and walk in District Six and the BoKaap, to marvel at the beauty and cultural diversity of Cape Town, to experience the heritage sites, to run through the Castle of Good Hope, to appreciate our cultural diversity The route was selected because it pas*es heritage sites like the whipping post where sl*ves were whipped, the hurling swing pump where sl*ves had to pump water for their masters, the company bell that rang to call sl*ves, gallows hill where sl*ves were executed, the Castle where sl*ves were imprisoned and to*tured and the sl*ve tree plaque where sl*ves were sold. In the BoKaap the runners and walkers enjoy a traditional Cape Malay Koesister! A sweet spicy delicacy!
