    The more I did research the more that I realized that a person can't have a seeing eye dog unless they are blind. The number of people that are blind in this century is 3.4 million and 3% of the Americans go blind before, during or after the age of  40. When Americans hit the age of 40 they go either legally blind to where they can't see anything or the where they can't see but can see Why Seeing Eye Dogs are so important to society is because they protect people with disabilities from discrimination. The dogs have a significant role by giving the people as*istance and confidence and increasing their independence. How the seeing eye dogs make a difference by guiding their handlers around everyday obstacles.     Facts that I have learned is that seeing eye dogs are important for when an emergency is happening because the dogs help with helping the person getting to safety. The reason I say this is because a four-year-old Labrador served as a seeing-eye dog. The dog saved his the burning buildings.    What I learned so far is that these dogs are important to our society and should be treated well with respect for what they do to help people with a difference.     Some opportunities that I have come across to get involved is not much, but there is an older lady that lives a few blocks up from If I was giving 10,000 dollars I would donate half and use the other half for a fundraiser. I would donate half the money to The Seeing Eye Company because with the money goes to the dogs and the trainers for better equipment to train the dogs. The fundraiser would be a mix of different things selling do toys and baked good for humans and dogs and depending on the amount of money we raise half would go back to
