random fandom musings – video games, anime and other geekery. i know this may come as a shock to some people, but i have been known to be wrong from time to time. not often, of course, but it does they say to never judge a book by its cover, but it’s not like i’m going to listen to those people because they usually look smug or pretentious and therefore probably don’t know what they’re talking about. but perhaps i should have listened, because if i had, maybe i would have given these ten shows a chance instead of ruling them out from yes, i’m back. i’m just gonna pretend that you missed me, or at least noticed i hadn’t posted in a while (read: 4 years). my friend how long this lasts. i have a few ideas, but for now i think i’ll get things started with what i hope to make a recurring feature, that i’m too slow a writer and too inconsistent to review shows episode by episode, especially since some episodes – like filler or beach ones – are both hard to write about and hardly worth writing about to begin with. so i opted for this format instead. i believe it was shakespeare who said, “to watch or not to watch, give it three episodes.” that’s the general anime community rule of thumb in any case. once upon a time i may have followed that rule, but i can’t be bothered with that anymore. if a show looks terrible or isn’t in my wheelhouse, i don’t see the point in wasting my time watching it. i suppose this is just me reaching my breaking point after having watched so much anime that i’ve become cynical towards the constant repetition and lack of creativity with shows these days. it’s just something i need to get out of my system. i’m not looking for an argument, i’m not seeking anyone else’s opinion and i’m not looking to be told how i’m wrong, nor am i trying to change anyone’s opinion either. i’m just ranting because i feel i need to. this winter 2014 season has been one of the worst seasons i’ve seen since i started watching anime. it’s possible that my tastes are
