Named after the founder, Rab Carrington, Rab is a brand renowned for their specialist outdoor clothing and equipment, suitable for extreme cold environments and high altitude mountaineering with a range that can be worn in the toughest conditions in the world. A talented climber, Rab Carrington spent much of the 1970s on ground-breaking expeditions around the world. In doing so, he gained a first-hand understanding of what climbers needed from their gear, particularly in extreme conditions. He founded Rab in 1981 to combine this knowledge with the skills he had acquired in making sleeping bags for fellow climbers while in South America. From the start, the focus was on developing functional gear that addresses the real needs of outdoor adventurers. It’s this down to earth, honest approach that still informs the design and testing process linking them firmly to that modest beginning in 1980’s Sheffield. His legacy continues with the brand Rab, a group of people dedicated to making products for the most extreme conditions in the world.
